Redbone Magic Brewing Company
The Story
Redbone Magic Brewing Company is a dream come true business created by a 40 year business man and a 23 year high school coach. Roger and Debbie Sheppard spent many months contemplating the idea of building a brewing company in downtown Texarkana. The major objection being the age factor. Roger was 66 and Debbie was 64 when the idea arose. Roger created Sports Magic Screen Printing and Embroidery Company in the spring of 1987 and ran it for 32 years. Debbie coached and taught school at Hooks and Texas High School. Her coaching duties at Hooks were all sports. She was very successful and was recruited by Texas High to coach Volleyball and Softball. Roger in his early days was an inspiring magician working with many companies including Cruise Lines and Country Clubs. Working a job on the Operyland Stage in Nashville, TN offered Roger exposure to working with Ralph Emery and the Nashville Network. At this time Roger had two beautiful little girls, Lindsey and Kristin and could not continue with the travel that was keeping him away from them. Roger settled down with the magic career and worked mainly with companies close to home. He created a reputation as one of the best card men in the country. Debbie enjoyed victory after victory and became known as one of the best female coaches in the state of Texas. The idea of creating a brewery inspired Roger to take up home brewing to get the hang of how beer was created. After 7 years they came to the decision to open up Redbone Magic Brewing Co. Redbone is Debbie's father's nick name and the Magic component came from Roger's talent. The brewery was opened November 15. 2018 and has been a wonderful success. "Make Texarkana Fun Again" is the tagline and we work very hard to do just that.
